the best sport on earth
 After a lot of years of palying a lot of sports (I've played just about everything except soccer), I quickly learned that wresting is one of the most competetive, most addictive sports on the face of the earth. I'm talking, of course, of amateur wrestling - the type in high school, college and the Olympics, not the stuff on TV late every Sunday night.

I had the pleasure of wrestling for a number of years, until my freshman year of college when I tore my ratator cuff. When I was a senior in high school, I tried my first real web experiement, and posted this web page which listed my accomplishments, in hopes to lure offers from college coaches. The page was linked from (at that time), the top amateur wrestling pages on the web. The result was suprising. I started to get emails from Division 2 & 3 coaches from around the country - even though they had never seen me wrestle a minute before in their lives. I often get a lot of email asking about wrestling and college schlorships. They often ask, "Am I good enough to wrestle on the college level?". I tell them that there is a chance for everyone if coaches will pursue random wrestlers on the Internet.

There are a few good wrestling sites that you might want to check out:

  • Amateur Wrestling News - the online version of this mag, which has been around for over 40 years.
  • Backpoints.com - some great resources, esp. tourney results (lots of NJ info, too!).
  • InterMat - A fantastic site filled with amateur wrestling resources.
  • The Mat - some great resources, links and a clip art gallery.
